Marwa Saifi

Marwa Saifi is a third-year Health Sciences student at Western University, majoring in Rehabilitation Sciences. As a first-generation Canadian, she discovered her passion for community-centered, culturally responsive care through years of leadership and volunteer work across Western's community. This passion carried into her five years of patient-facing experience as an Optometric Assistant and Receptionist, that has deepened her understanding of patient-centered care and health equity. She extends this commitment beyond clinical settings through her leadership with the Afghan Cultural Club, Rotary International at Western, and Start2Finish London where she works to build community connection and support underrepresented, and underserved groups. She currently serves as a research collaborator with Dr. Saadia Sediqzadah at St. Michael's Hospital on a scoping review examining patient decision aids in psychosis. Through her role with the YSMENA research program, Marwa hopes to deepen her understanding of the social and cultural factors shaping the mental health and well-being of MENA youth in Canada.
