Dr. Mohammad-Ali Jenabian, Canada Research Chair in Immuno-Virology , is studying the molecular mechanisms involved in these immune responses. He and his research team are assessing the role of regulatory T-cells in accelerated cardiac diseases in addition to T-cell functional immune cross-talk with other types of T-cells. They are also assessing what causes HIV to persist inside the lungs of people living with HIV despite anti-retroviral therapy. Finally, they are evaluating the anti-inflammatory impacts of medical cannabinoids through a randomized clinical trial involving people living with HIV who are receiving anti-retroviral therapy. Ultimately, their findings will contribute to new drug treatments.
