Sirena Van Schaik is a PhD student with Western in the Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Study graduate program. She holds an honours specialization in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies with a minor in Creative Writing at Western as well as a master's degree in creative and critical writing and a postgraduate certificate in creative writing. As a journalist and novelist for 19 years, her work often explores themes around the impact of structural and interpersonal violence against gendered bodies.
