Dr. Roula Hawa, PhD, MPH, MSc, BEd

Nominated Principal Investigator, Brescia University College at Western University, ON

Dr. Roula Kteily-Hawa is an Assistant Professor in Family Studies and Human Development at Brescia University College at Western University. Dr. Hawa's research is community-engaged with a focus on resilience and well-being in vulnerable populations, including racialized and immigrant youth and women, using anti-colonial and anti-oppression frameworks. A long-time advocate for youth in school settings and youth and women in the community, she has expertise in mixed-method interventions and community-based participatory research. Dr. Hawa's research program is currently funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR). She is also a Co-Principal Investigator on the COVID-19 Stigma Reduction Study, funded by CIHR. Roula currently serves as an Associate Editor at Progress in Community Health Partnerships, Johns Hopkins University Press.
